Routh talks Superman II

Brandon Routh recently spoke to E! Online at the Superman Returns DVD and video game launch party about teaming up with Bryan Singer again for the sequel. He had this to say:`quot;I`#39;m certainly excited to do another one. I don`#39;t think we`#39;ll start for awhile since we have a 2009 release, but I`#39;m excited about the potential.`rdquo; In preparing for the role the first time around, Routh said that he wanted to make sure his 21st-century Superman was both a character of his own creation and an homage to the actors who have suited up before him. `quot;I certainly looked at Christopher Reeve`#39;s performance because he was my Superman, and I knew Superman from him and from watching him many, many times,`quot; the 27-year-old Iowa native said. `quot; So definitely I took that energy and the spirit that he has from the character, because it was important that there be a familiar feeling for fans, for audiences to make that transition from watching him to watching this new person.Read the full article here. Brandon also spoke to IESB at the event. Check out the video interview where he talks about what villains he`#39;d like to see in the sequel, as well as plenty of photos from the event, here. Gil Adler talks SR2

Gil Adler, producer on Superman Returns, briefly spoke to IESB at the Superman Returns DVD and video game release party about the upcoming sequel as well as other projects he has in development. `quot; In brief, this is what he said about `#39;The Man of Steel.`#39; For one, he to did not deny or dispute when I referred to it as `#39;The Man of Steel.`#39; Production will most likely start in either January or February of 2008 and the first film did set a few things up that they will most likely try to explore in the sequel. We also spoke about other projects, specifically about Living in Infamy, a comic book published by Robert Meyer Burnett over at Ludovico Technique, who also produced the Superman Returns DVD and directed Free Enterprise.Gil has optioned the property and they are currently developing it for the big screen.`quot; So it looks like Singer and Co. will be spending the builk of next year hammering out the story before production starts in 2008. Should he choose to direct Wolverine, Singer may have time before production on the SR sequel begins.Read the full article and watch the video interview here.

Tristan Lake Leabu Talks "Man of Steel"

Tristan Lake Leabu, who played Jason in Superman Returns, told IESB at the Superman Returns DVD and video game release party that he expects to return as Jason in the sequels.IESB also had this bit of information regarding the plot for the sequel:"According to a studio/production source at the party, Zod will not be back. He will not be a part of the story at all. They have decided to go a different way and Bryan will make The Man of Steel his own story completely. Our insider promises more action than any D.C. Comics based movie thus far."Read the full article and watch video interviews with Stephan Bender, Eva Marie Saint, and Tristan Lake Leabu here, and watch Sam Huntington`s video interview here.

Elton John Snubbed for SR2 Role

Okay, here`s a bit of wierd sequel news for you. Over at Digital Spy in the UK, they`re reporting that Elton John put in a bid during a charity auction for the Old Vic. The prize? A cameo role in the sequel to Superman Returns. Sir Elton John`s charitable attempts to buy a part in the next Superman film were foiled yesterday. The `Crocodile Rock` singer bid £40,000 at a fundraising event for the Old Vic theatre in London yesterday, but was outbid by a fellow knight - British businessman Sir Philip Green. It is believed that Green`s wife will take the part. Click the link above to see the difference between a role in SR2 and a date with Paris Hilton (Now, there`s a name I NEVER thought would make the front page of BT).

More DVD Updates

Well, there`s new info about the disc errors tonight: Bonus content was omitted from the "Superman III: Deluxe Edition" in the 14-disc "Superman Ultimate Collector`s Edition." Furthermore, disc one of "Superman: The Movie - Four Disc Special Edition" did not include the Dolby Digital 2.0 mix. Neither disc is known to be physically defective in any way. Warner Home Video wants to extend apologies to all of our loyal Superman fans who`ve waited so patiently for these great collections and has taken immediate steps to correct these errors with the intention of standing behind our product 100%. Replacement discs can be obtained by calling: 800-553-6937. The exchange program applies only to purchases of the "Superman III: Deluxe Edition" in the "Superman Ultimate Collector`s Edition" and to disc one of "Superman: The Movie - Four Disc Special Edition," available as a single title, as well as in "The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection" and in the "Superman Ultimate Collector`s Edition."

DVD Corrections

TheDigitalBits.com has reported WB`s plan for dealing with the disc problems for all of the Superman DVD madness about to happen tomorrow: Here`s the deal - we`ve just spoken with Warner Home Video. They ARE going to be issuing corrected discs for both Disc One of the Superman: The Movie - Four-Disc Special Edition (also Disc One of the Superman: Ultimate Collector`s Edition 14-disc set) AND Disc Eight of the Superman: Ultimate Collector`s Edition. Disc One will feature the CORRECT original 2.0 audio track for Superman: The Movie and Disc Eight will feature the new Superman III: Deluxe Edition. ALL of the other discs streeting tomorrow are correct. The mistakes in the Superman: The Movie - Four-Disc Special Edition and the Superman: Ultimate Collector`s Edition were apparently just honest authoring/replication errors - not deliberate decisions - and Warner is already in the process of correcting them. NO recall of existing sets is planned at the moment, but we`ll have an 800 number shortly that you can call and arrange to have the corrected discs sent to you via mail. The official statement from Warner will follow shortly, so be sure to check back in a little while. Keep your eyes peeled, and hopefully we`ll have more info on that number to call very soon.

Problems with Ultimate Collection

Well, details haven`t been clarified yet by Warner Home Video, but several people are reporting that there are some problems with some of the Superman DVD`s being released tomorrow. According to SupermanHomepage, the problems are: The "Superman III" DVD is nothing more than the standard disc released in the 2001 release, and does not include the bonus material as advertised. The theatrical version of "Superman: The Movie" does not contain the 1978 English 5.1 audio track as promised, but defaults to French or German (depending on region). The English 2.0 track is the 2001 mix. Stay tuned for details on exactly how persistent the issues are, and what plans are being made to accommodate those who get faulty DVD`s.
